The Campbell family has once again bumbled its way into a great American vacation and we want to share it with you! This time, we finally made it to Walt Disney World. And against all recommendations about flying around Thanksgiving, we took off on-time and arrived at Orlando Airport without a hitch. Bad news was our luggage wouldn't fit in the subcompact we had rented. Good news was we got a nice convertible for an affordable upgrade.
After spending Thanksgiving with my in-laws, we were off to WDW, our destination - The Port Orleans Hotel. Lesson 1: stay on-site! We just took a fairly quick bus to everywhere, and never had to wait. **Note** Lesson 2: The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is one of the slowest of the year... We almost NEVER had to wait on lines or crowds. It was like they built the place just for us.
Day One: Epcot
Actually, Epcot is too large to do in a day, so we spent two. You're first amazed with wonderful technology and stimulating shows relating to communications, the environment and imagination, and then you wander into a World Showcase with interesting (and delicious!) samples of many nation's cultures and traditions.
Amazing electronics and always the Disney flair for showmanship. If we turned these guys loose on our school systems, the KIDS would pay to go!

Katie Meets Jay Leno.
The World Showcase.
Simply a beautiful circle of nations surrounding a quiet lagoon with riverboats reminiscent of the Seine. (A MUST visit is La Patisserie, where you can try some REAL French pastry - Unbelievable!

Again, one of our great windfalls on the trip was to enjoy the 9PM "Illuminations 25," a fantastic combination of lasers, fireworks, and electronics designed for the 25th Anniversary of Walt Disney World. We sat in the Mexican Cantina at the water's edge to witness the show.

Even when we were tired and beat.... good fortune smiled on us again. Forced to wait "one more time" for the Monorail ride home, we were rewarded with the absolute front seat in the next train, ahead of the engineer, who turned out to be from Minnesota....
